1920s Fashion: History and Design

Belinda Orzada,

In the course FASH 417 1920s Fashion: Design and History, students will explore the 1920s from cultural, social, political, historical viewpoints to understand how the 1920s zeitgeist influenced women’s fashions. Design of women’s dresses during this time will be analyzed through hands-on experience in the UD Fashion and Textiles Collection documenting and developing archival materials for historic garments and digital twin reproduction garments. They will develop design skills by measuring and drafting patterns of UD FTC garments to develop digital twin replica garments and have the opportunity to contribute to the planning of a museum exhibition of 1920s dresses.
