Catherine Heilferty
Biography
Catherine Heilferty has been an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing since 2018. She is a pediatric oncology nurse and teaches healthcare research and ethics. Her research interests include narratives of illness, the history of nursing, college student grief. She has published works on cultural competence in the nursing care of children; spiritual care for dying children; and the narratives of illness blog creation by parents of children with cancer. Her inspiration for exploring the concept of crafting healthcare is the community of rug artisans with whom she figures things out on a regular basis.
